What are Veneers?

Veneers are thin, custom-made coverings that are placed over the front surfaces of teeth to improve their appearance. They are a popular cosmetic treatment for people who would like to enhance their smile by addressing issues such as discolouration, chips, uneven tooth shapes, small gaps, or mild misalignment. Because veneers are designed to look and feel like natural teeth, they can provide a long-lasting, confident smile while blending seamlessly with your existing teeth.

Types of Veneers
There are two main types of veneers: composite and porcelain.
Composite veneers are made from a tooth-coloured resin that is carefully shaped and bonded directly onto your teeth in a single appointment. They are generally more affordable and less invasive, as they often require little or no removal of natural tooth enamel. Composite veneers can be repaired or added to more easily if they chip or wear, making them a flexible option. With the right care, composite veneers typically last around 5 years before needing replacement or maintenance.
Porcelain veneers, on the other hand, are custom-made in a dental laboratory and then bonded to your teeth. They offer a more natural, lifelike appearance as the porcelain mimics the translucency and shine of real enamel. Porcelain is also more resistant to staining and wear compared with composite, so the results tend to stay looking better for longer. Although porcelain veneers usually involve a little more preparation of the teeth, they are very strong and durable, often lasting 10 years or more with good oral hygiene and regular dental care.
